Port Everglades Jetty Question

I've tried searching the forums for the answer to my question but didn't find an answer so here goes. What is the situation regarding parking and hours for the PE jetty? You have to drive through John U Lloyd Park to get to the jetty correct? The Park says it closes the gates at sunset so does that include the jetty? I'd like to know the details before heading up there late night. Thanks. Tight lines

The park closes at sunset. In order to fish there after dark you have to buy an annual pass, you can contact the park office and they will give you the details on how to buy one and the price.

To add to this.. in order to fish before and after sunset you must pack up and leave the park before sunset, and return after dark. You can't just stay on the pier.. found this out the hard way.

I fish at john lloyd a lot especially at nigh off the jetty, you will need the annual pass with the after hours fishing pass, it is $64 but worth every single penny if your a PE jetty fanatic like me, there is seriously good fishing there at night. When you get to the gate tell them you want the annual pass AND the after hours fishing pass, they will tell you to park in that first little lot on the right, then you gotta go up to the guardhouse again and fill out your forms etc... if you fish during the day you have to leave the park close to closing time, i always ask the guard at the gate what time the sun will set today so I know when to leave, now depending on how many dumb tourists or residents are in the park it should be cleared out around 8:30 but all depends, when its cleared out try to re-enter the park and the guard will take care of you, just show them your pass, a lot of details covered there jajajajajaja couple things to be aware of though, after hours fishing is for the jetty ONLY!! If your caught anywhere else fishing in the park you might have your annual pass stripped away or in severe cases jail time! Number 2, you have to buy the annual pass to get the after hours fishing pass, you cant just buy the fishing pass alone, the annual pass comes with the greatest gain free entrance, so whenever you there just flash them your annual pass and you get in 4 free!!! chris has it pretty much covered... but you obviously like snook fishing, so the 64 dollars should be well worth it for you, but keep in mind that is only a single pass just for you, the pass for up to 8 people is $123... but dude once you figure the snook out over there you will catch tons and tons of them alota slobs lerk out there.. but not only good snoom fishing, snapper,cobia,sharks,tarpon all diff kinds of fish.... one of the keys to the snook is using a troll right and shrimp...ive been fishing there since i was a baby with my dad even when it was closed i use to park at dania pier and walk the beach down there... i know alot about it, if you need any info on it... where the snook are, how to fish them, ect... pm me. id be happy to help

So, is it safe there at night? What about mosquitoes, real bad?

Btw, I imagine after all the advertising on this thread it's going to start getting alot more crowded there too.

Beowolf, Not really believe it or not most dont want to pay to fish. That keeps most at bay.
I was just at POA and I counted maybe 5 people on the jetty this morning.

skeeters get bad when there is no wind... and as for alot of people going 90 percent of the people that fish there are all googans... and it takes times to figure that place out to find out where the right bottom structure is and where the fish are... and it takes time and effort.. alota people give up by then... also alota people dont wana by a pass to fish at night.... so you should be ok.

Its usually pretty safe out there cause only the niceand civilized people spend money for. Night fishing privelges, I usually fish ther with my friend who is a cop and he usually does carry so it is extra peace of mind, mosquitoes will drive you nuts on those nights when there is no breeze, I always bring off with me, always prepared.
