Pompano season?

Post by cho123 »

Been to Deerfield pier yesterday and there were millions of pilchards for bait, Blue Runners, Ambers Jacks, and huge Snooks swimming around the pier. I caught plenty and Blues, Ambers, and Cudas. But does anyone know when Pompano season start, best part of the pier to fish for them, and how the catch them?

While you might catch a pomp anytime down here, I'd say best time for pomps in Broward and Boca is Feb thru early May.

8) Fall run for now.... Anywhere from October thru late November, maybe some still around in early December. Macks, Bluefish, Pomps, Mullet, etc, they all will migrate south as the winds start blowing consistently thru the fall. Then the spring run comes after the year and we get them coming back heading north. Possible to see a handful in September because of storms pushing them down. Just pay attention to others fishing for them closer in as those times near, then ask around.
