hi im new to the forum. I was thinking about going to hillsboro inlet this weekend. I'll probably try for sheephead, snapper, and jacks. any advice? has anyone fished there recently? ooh and i just bought some berkly alive gulp shrimp are these any good?

thats what i bought but do you jig it or fish it like bait?

Both... youll be pleasantly surprised... Work it SLOW especially in dirty water or under a cork if trying for trout... They are amazingly good... I have nailed snapped (16"+) when they didnt hit LIVE shrimp...

I do the same as swordfish says. Snook will go for them on a 1/8 red or copper jig with the gulp if you skip em under a dock. I fish em at a slow retrieve on the bottom and the occasional jig for reds, trout, snapper and snook. When I do a faster twitchy retrieve I get jacks and ladyfish mostly. Use a weedless jighead in grassy flats for reds.

do you kno if theres any jacks, grouper,snapper, flounder, at hillsboro inlet?

I have fished that inlet a lot over the years. Now that the places you can fish have been reduced many good spots are gone. Night time an hour or so before high slack is best. This time of year the shrimp are running so outgoing or incoming tides are best. Fish live shrimp or imitation on a 3/8 or 1/2 oz jighead and let it swim with the tide. Lots of tarpon snook moonfish sheepshead and snapper there along with jacks mackeral and bluefish. Don't plan on a lot of success there as the conditions will be challenging there as you learn the spot. Inlets are challenging.

If you want redfish go to Indian River Lagoon. Not many reds south of there.

I've only targeted snook and tarpon from the south jetty. I always did well, but the jetty with the rocks and railroad tyes can be trickey. I havn't been there in years.
