Didn't kill it. I put it in the boat for pics and put it back. It swam away with no harm done to it

However, any amount of money says that shark died. Their organs cannot handle being kept out of the water like that.

LOL alot of the time fish will swim away but later die anything over 100 lbs really should not come out of the water unless you want too kill it

i say just using the rope to pull it up by the head would do more damage.
well anyway timb04... just cut the line next time. its so much easier and you can still get a pic with it in the water like the other sharks you caught from the piers.

Yeah, that is a dead fish... In my commercial days we caught 3 of them, one was near 400 lbs and Lifting him up by the flying gaff he tore in two (he was dead, they dont fare well in a long line, fight themselves to death). So yeah, that is a hefty fish, even dead he would be too much to handle even for three people... Now imagine if he was "green" as you claim, putting him in the boat aint happening, and taking him back out either unless you want a nasty bite. Conclusion is, that fish is filleted, I hope he was at least eaten and not tossed.

Nah. The fish swam away. It is possible that it died later but when it swam away it was fine
