@Roc86Negron - John Lloyd is closed from sundown to 8 AM. They are jerks about letting anyone in early, except if you have a boat and trailer. Even if you say you are there to meet someone at the boat ramp, the fishing police will drive up & down the beach on their 4 wheelers and run you out big time if you are there before 8 AM. That's been my experience. However...You can walk north in from Dania Pier all you want and they don't seem to bother you, I think because the guys (one lives there) that ride on the 4 wheelers realize that us beach fishermen are not hurting anything and actually keep an eye on the creeps who seem to ruin it for everyone...and we're too busy fishing to cause trouble. I for one am going to start a petition to request that the Nat'l Park Service open the park at sunup and re-open the jetty since there are already people on duty at the gate, and send it to my Congressman and Senators. There is absolutely no reason not to let us in and generate more entrance fee revenues, and the jetty is not falling apart as they lead us to believe...It's OUR park that WE paid for with OUR tax dollars and WE should be able to use it ANYTIME WE want to!

You don't know much about "State Parks" do you, and also,.. the jetty isn't just in a State park. It is ruled by the Army Corps. You can write all the petitions you like, but your word doesn't mean anything when the decisions are made. The jetty is there being a jetty. It wasn't put there for fishing. As long as it is doing its job, Army Corps have no reason to bother with it, and the State doesn't want to cough up $ to run a new walkway in it.

Was just going to post o. this, they said the army Corp of engineers has a bid in the next couple weeks, originally it was supposed to he only to the old baithouse but for some reason the state said they wanted. Bid for the entire length, hopefully the bid will be close to the proposed budget for it, then its about a 7 month waiting period, I was told the main reason the state wants it reopened is not for the fishing, but for the friggin boat watchers? I totally thought fishing brings more money but I guess I'm wrong lol

Quite the opposite Zebco. I know alot, and am VERY heavily involved in public service at all levels. They simply use the Army Corps for the job/heavy equipment use. The jetty is owned by the State of Florida, who works for WE THE PEOPLE. My word absolutely means something, and if others felt that way and did something about the issues instead of thinking that they have no say, then the politricksters would'nt get away with half of their bullsh!t. If we paid for it with our tax dollars, it's ours, regardless of who controls it or makes rules regarding its use. I've been very involved at the local and state level getting things done for the benefit of the People for many, many years. I regulary call, write, text and email my Congressman, Senators, State Reps, County/City Commissioners and staff, know most of them personally and I don't take no for an answer when I am on a mission. I also have proposed legislation, and am currently doing so for the upcoming legislative session, on many occassions for the benefit of the People, and have been very successful in getting laws passed and changed to benefit all of US. I travel to Tallahassee every year and make myself heard and support issues that we all benefit from...especially when it comes to outdoors & recreation. I recenty attended the meeting regarding Holiday Park and spoke out against the government wanting to eliminate certain rights of use. I recently met with the governor regarding some fishing and wildlife issues which hopefully will pass in this upcoming legislative session and he will support it. What have you done to protect your right to fish on state (your) property? Yes, there may be money issues in repairing the jetty, and I wouldn't doubt it closed for safety reasons, but does anyone really know what the current status is without resorting to heresay? I will write the Director if the State Parks and ask. Maybe the true answer will come out, and I will post it here. In the mean time, I ask EVERYONE to get more involved, or our rights will continue to be taken away little by little...

I'm not insulting anybody. I give you answers that I have gotten thru time and as you see, the jetty still sits closed. You dont like my replies to things, don't read them.
