Beach fishing Ft. Lauderdale

Few years ago I caught a Pompano from the beach and have been wanting to get into it more. I went fishing on the beach 2 days ago, and nothing
Wondering if there is an area someone would recommend i try? I'm getting a skiff soon but for now I just want to fish from the beach. Not really interested in the piers. Any help?

Yes wait until around Halloween time and go the same place you caught the last one and use the same bait they arent down here in the summer.

You are about 2 months late for the pomps. They are usually gone by the end of April. You might try live bait in the surf right now for snook, tarpon, and other species that frequent our summertime waters. Artificial baits are also good. Try early in the am, or late afternoons.

Sunday i ran into a school of jacks pushing some bait right onto the sand . Also saw a few snook and bonefish up on the beach at oakland park blvd. monday.

You can fish E Sunrise and A1A, right in front of the Hugh Taylor Birch park. Get there just before sunrise and you'll be able to park right there no problem. Bait is usually all up in the surf, just cast net or sabiki some and freeline one out. I used to work by there and would hit that spot up pretty frequently. Good fishing.
