Went to Dania pier yesterday to see what is going on.Fishing was very slow but I managed to catch 1 mackerel for lunch.When i was leaving the pier I try to get a plastic bag and I usualy check the trash can's to see if I can find 1 clean bag.When I looked into the first trash can I couldn't believe what I saw.A small hammer head shark.Dead.i picked it up and I was so disgusted when I saw that some one gutted that baby shark and then throw it to the garbage.It was either early morning or late night catch because the blood was still very fresh.I can't understand why any one would do anything like that then i realized where I was.The people on Dania pier is just disgusting.I saw a lots of dead fishes on other pier to but never anything like this.I picked up the shark took a picture and throw it in the water.

Look people, there is only one way to combat this, and that is to call these people out when you see them doing something f*!# up. I'm serious. Even just a mention of it, and you'll see. It will take a long time, but eventually a small cultural change in the way people think and do things will change. Another option is to report the pier itself to the proper people. If they come down on the pier, then the pier owners will be forced to do something about it, or start supervising a little more. I'm so sick of these kind of people, I don't care what minority or red neck they are, I'm just sick of them all. It's up to US to at least TRY to do something about it

I respectfully disagree about Dania. There are some really stand up guys on the Dania Pier that I believe are a credit to the sport. That said it does piss me off to no end to see fish lying on the deck frying in the sun like so much garbage. No fisherman that I know at Dania would have ever killed that shark. I'll tolerate our immigrants, I'll politely fish next to them but I don't have to like them. Maybe that's why I enjoy tossing great fish back in front of them just to see their squinty eyes pop.

HAHAHAHAHA now THAT is funny! So many times I feel guilty for throwing back a Bonita or a Jack, but not anymore. If I am not keeping that fish, it's going back, simple as that. There are times when I donate and feed the poor, needy, etc, and fishing is no longer that time. An example needs to be set, so I continue to practice my catch and release, and like you said, when I release some nice fish, I see eye's popping. For crying out loud, doesn't anyone see this IS an immigration issue? Let me explain: in some countries, the fishing regulations, well, huh, there are no fishing regulations. So when they come here, they don't learn the language, and they don't seem to get the fishing regulations here in Florida. Yes, I said FLORIDA, not the U.S...people, DO AS OTHERS WHO ARE NATIVE TO THE LAND DO, so, abide by the rules, regulations and laws of the locals. Here in Florida, there are size limits, open seasons, closed seasons, licenses, rules, bait restrictions, and finally, catch limits. I know this, and I am from Canada for crying out loud. So if a Canuck can get it, I'm sure other people can.

It is true about regulations and immigrants.They come here and do whatever they like and use to do In the old country.But here regulations and rules are different and they need to get use to it.
Not every one in Dania pier is like that but there are lots of people who fish there long enough to know what is right and what is wrong.And killing that little shark was wrong.
