Pier fishing at night

Post by ground_sniper »

New to pier fishing, was wondering what all I should do for night fishing and baits. Been bottom fishing Anglin's last few Friday nights with squid. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try some cut bait or some live bait.

Try new things squid is ok but easily picked off like shrimp try bally, mullets,or my fav belly strips stay on longer. Get urself a a sabiki bait rig to catch bait around the pier that's what they are eating

When you guys say "cut bait" You guys r just referring to mullet, ballyhoo, etc. just cut into chunks right?

Is it better to Sabiki off the pier of off the shore by the pier?

Drop the sabiki off the pier (attached to the rod of course), till the top hook is JUST below the water, and wait....when it starts bouncing, and pulling, you have bait...
There is a fine line between Love & Hate.Hate is pushing them off a ledge. Loving them means you don't taunt them after you've pushed them off.

Yes...now you have to figure out what works best...small chunks, big chunks, little pieces, big pieces, halves, etc....certain things work better for certain fish.

I will say this....cut the tail of a ballyhoo off, and cut about a 3" chunk, hook it through the bone of the part where the tail was...chuck it out into the water...and watch what happens :thumright:

Thats all the hints I am giving you.
