Visiting from Kansas, Need Help Catching a few fish!!!

As the title says, I will be visiting from Kansas for 5 days during the first week of March. I am an avid freshwater fisherman, but i'm clueless when it comes to salt water. I was hoping I could get some tips to help me catch a few fish on my trip.

First of all, I'm 23, so rental car prices are through the roof. Therefore, I am trying to stay at a hotel within walking distance to the pier and beach.(Looking into either Pompano pier or anglins, haven't decided yet... Any advice??)

Being a freshwater fisherman from land locked kansas, I will be thrilled with anything I catch. It's all new to me! I am hoping to be able to bring a few of my catfishing set-ups and maybe some spinning tackle; and catch a few fish off of the beach or pier... Whatever bites, I don't care what it is! How easy can this be done? My pier fishing experience dates back to my child hood, where I caught bluerunners all day on a sabiki rig, so that should give you an idea of how easy I am to please when it comes to salt water fishing.

Also, would I be better off staying near the pompano pier or near the Anglins pier, or does it not make much of a difference?

get cha a light spinning rod and some lures, spoons,jigs,gotchas, anything flashy.... go to anglins at sun up and you should have a good chance at bluefish,makeral,jacks..ect.... sunup is the best time to fish but you can catch fish through out the day... dont be scared to ask for advide from the guys fishing there... anglins is filled with nice helpful people.

Thanks for the tips! Would you recommend anglins over pompano? Also, I've been reading around and it looks like surf fishing may be a little difficult in march with all of the tourists... Should I just forget about that and stick to the pier?

Because of Accommodation prices and value, I may have to stay in pompano... What can I expect on that pier?

same kinda fish anglins is alot more friendly of a place.... when ya cum down let me know.. well fish ill show ya the rops gets ya on some fish... well go shark fishing one night and get you on some quality big fish.

Sorry for all of the questions... As far as tackle goes, what type of line should I use for the pier and possible beach fishing I may do? And is there a tackle shop near pompano pier that I would be able to buy terminal tackle at?

Also, you mentioned using jigs and lures, is the bait fishing any good? Lets say just your normal three way rig with a weight and a hook with shrimp or any other bait?(my girlfriend will probably not enjoy the jigging)

yeah use the 3 hook rig put some shrimp or squid, shell catch grunts all day long.... and for the beach and piers you can use 8-12 pound line depending on what ur setup is..

Just regular old mono line? I've been reading about people using braid but i would think that would be a pain to break when you got hung up.

yeah i use braid on all my smaller lure rods.... but then again it depends on choice... one thing u dont wana do is put braid on a cheap reel ull get alota wind knots and it wont reel onn correctly
