S.O.S!! Help me fund Fisherman, Joe!

Post by Rare »

I went this this website http://www.gofundme.com and was inspired by all the crazy funding of your average folks and pets on a mission. At that very moment a small beam of light came casting through the blinds & a shadow appeared on the wall....That shadow was a fisherman holding a huge snook bigger than he. Not just any snook fisherman cause this shadow had a long beard too & if the snook was bigger than he...... It was unmistakably that this was none other then, Fisherman, Joe....Our very own, Grunt King.

This was a sign of higher powers telling me to do something. Joe long ago wanted to go live off the gridlock in a place like, Costa Rica forest/beach . If you guys dont know, the snook there are massive size that every snook fisherman will envy with a beast from there. We wont send him there to live, but sent him on an inspiration journey to Costa Rica in a remote area for 2/3 week. This website will help fund his way, an adventure of a life time and we can all chip in a few bucks to get him started and the rest our friends in the WWW can do the rest.

If Yorkie the dog can raise 19k to help him walk again....no doubt others around the world can help send Joe to Costa Rica once we tally up the total cost of it all & location on which coast in Coast Rica. We can put it under faith or whatever. Please, join me so that way KrisSnook will never have a bigger snook then our very own, Joe.

He's clearly going to need an apprentice to accompany him and document this historic adventure. Someone fairly new and therefore far from being set in his ways...

No one wants to see Joe head to CR for an adventure of a lifetime? Some wheels rolling on where to put his story on that website and a nice write up.

This is exciting...

But in my humble opinion, some more details have to be further developed.

For example,
What is the world record of snook?
Cost of collecting all local intelligence about snooking in CR ( Obviously, we want Joe to be in right place and right time)
Flight fare with excess baggage charge if we don't want Joe swim to CR with all of his gears.
Cost of stay including hotel, meal, etc if we don't want Joe to sleep on street.
Local transportation if we don't want Joe to waste all of his time by walking from air port to fishing spot and also he may need some boat travel to get a certain place.
Cost of local guide. This will make the trip more successful.
Cost of baits
Cost of gears
Cost of Internet communication (Obviously, we would like to hear his daily fishing activities.)
...

Then total = $$$$$

And then, how many people do you want to participate...

This is a boatless team effort so thanks for joining. The trip is indeed about him snook fishing and other fishing possibility. There was thread & Joe spoke about living in a place like CR; away from it all. So this trip is a two fold in it's own way.

The world record snook is 57lb. Not too long ago a guy name Ward Michaels (guide here in Florida) caught a 60lb in CR. I'm not sure if it made it to the record or not. I spoke to Joe about which coast, the Pacific snook is where it's at so that is a starting point. We are late for the season till next year. Not to say he cant catch them, but the big girls just like here go out to the ocean to spawn. Ward Michaels should be the guy to hit up and head out with Joe in this trip. He is a soflo guide & has been to CR 80times and knows their spots & allthe above. Pretty much we can get all the above info from him and set him up with Joe to head out there.

We talk about snook by inch's....They talk about snooks in lbs. I dont think you guys understand how big they can get...lol

That snook is about as big as Joe!

Our goal should be the world record snook or something like that, sponsored by Boatless fishing forum.
I agree we need Ward Michaels as a guide in CR.
We should figure out a way to get sponsored from rod and reel vendors, fishing magazines, local bass pro shops,

Rare....I think .kblue just found the hook. We are sending the very best out of all of us to go down to Costa Rico to catch the world record snook. Balls to the wall for two whole weeks chasing the record. Joey should get up to speed in a couple of days. I would put in some time to help make that happen. And btw the airfare from Miami is short money.

We need local/native commercial fishermen called Big John and Jeffrey, who help Ward to find the 60 LB snook.
These native guys would be cheaper.

Guess you just don't know the 'spot' down here bud. Rare DO NOT tell him. He's got a big mouth if you know what I mean. Half the world will be fishing the honey hole by dark.

Hello everybody. My name is Alejandro. I started snook fishing a couple of years ago here in Costa Rica.

I ran across your board and wanted to make my contribution.

Snook fishing is a religion among local fisherman. There are countless stories and legends about Snooks that have been caught here and there in different places in Costa Rica.
We measure Snooks by Kilograms not by pounds and several local fisherman from both Pacific and Caribbean shores have caught 30+ kilogram Snooks. Obviously it was
easier 50-40-30 years ago but every year a couple of monsters are caught. None of these Snooks have been submitted to the IGFA basically because they don't know what that
is and also because they depend on selling the fish to support their families. Nevertheless, every town has their own heroes that everybody knows that have caught legendary Snooks.
Some of them have pictures, some of them have the stuffed head, but the most important, all of them have a great story complemented by the fishing partners that were present
that glorious day.
If you guys come down here to try to break the IGFA record, I would suggest you guys to also reserve some time to listen to these stories and sit down with some of these heroes.
It has been a unique experience for me. You guys could also make an award winning documentary.

Tight lines brothers,

Alejandro
