Measure the fish from the tip of the nose to the fork of the tail(length), then around the fish in front of the Pectoral fins(girth).
Now take the girth measurement and square it. Multiply this by the length and divide that total by 800. That gives an approximate weight.
Ex:
Girth = 12 inches Length = 30 inches
Girth squared: 12 x 12 = 144
Multiply by 30: 144 x 30 = 4320
Divide by 800: 4320 / 800 = 5.4 pounds
