Frankly , I do not care how good this guy is at catching large Snook. I would never book a trip with this careless man that abuses his livlihood like that.

Well put. I used to watch the Lake and Bay Legends Video with him in it. And it shows were he catches those fish. I know the exact spot. He is a discrace.

i dont think he killed that snook... More damage is done by fighting a fish of that caliber with tackle that is to light ... Or throwing them off the side of a pier - bridge.. Using a hoop net to land and release fish also strips protective slime coat.. He had heavy tackle and cranked the fish straight to the boat... fish was still green enough to escape his grip while holding the fish...

Yes he mesured the fish and I know all of you guys would have mesured it and taken 17 pictures with 3 diffrent people holding it... He messured it because he said it was the biggest that he has caught or seen in the water ..Just like he said in the video...

Yes he was using a boga grip but i have seen pictures of forum
members using them on fish that can just be held bare...

He revived the fish and it swam away.. he did the best thing possible..
Most would never do such a thing and just toss it back in the water..Or
throw it off a bridge-pier

Snook that size are all over juno in the summer time.. You want to see carnage go there and watch how many are just slammed back in the water off the pier.......all summer long

The best thing to do in order to not hurt a snook is not to catch one...lol
I love catching BIG snook.. They put up a fight and are fun to fish for but... by putting pressure on them you have to release them with the outmost care for the best rate of survival especially the smaller ones..

I'd like to see this guy fishing so I can toss a couple sinkers at his fore head.

yeah i agree he was rough with the snook, but i donno... I am sure everyone has mishandled fish...

I talked to him about it on another forum and he basically blew me off and told me that since FWC measures fish that way and handles them that way then he would too. He also went on to say that shore bound anglers treat the fish worst of all people. When I managed to point out to him that in fact there were a bunch of great people on here dedicated to treating the fish well and that he could get great camera angles without ever taking the fish out of the water.

He didn't respond back to me, even with his flawed logic that most fish that FWC measure are dead and meant for the grill by the time FWC gets there.

I really do not understand what is so hard about all of this...

Reel the damn big snook in....hold it in the water...or just out of the water to remove hook...snap a quick picture or two...set the snook back in the water...or if on a pier/bridge, slowly lower the snook down with a pier net and then slowly move the net back and forth to allow the snook to revive. This all can be done in a solid minute-2 minutes if done correctly.

Had an FWC LEO seen him doing this, you can be damn sure he would have been tisketed, if not lost hid Captain`s License for that agrievient abuse. He had that snook more than long enough to measure, and even weigh it, without the the excessive abuse (deck slamming) and such he put that fish through.

I have an extra large net, along with a scale that would allow a person to raise the fish out gently, measure, weigh, photograph, and then quickly release it.

Two points to consider here..

A) He handled that fish far too long and after then bringing it abourd, could possibly constitute HARVESTING.

B) Just before he released the fish, she almost belly rolled (dead) and we didn`t actually see her swim off, and even if she did, all that abuse could take her toll a short while later. Like someone posted...sharkbait.
