Bait Fish @ the Dock

I just recently purchased a place off of Dania Cut-off canal. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to attract bait fish and other fish to the canal behind the house. I'm installing dock lights now to put light over the water but is there any other good ways. It would sure be nice to be able to catch bait from my dock instead of buying it from the store.

Maybe if you yossed in chum frequintly they would stick around.

More than likely chum will bring in predators from far and wide... I say just a few good lights will go a LONG way... The light attracts the tiniest life forms, which in turn bring in the rest of the food chain up to the large predators... The lights will make a big difference...

Yeah, the lights are the way to go in terms of drawing in the fish, and the fisherman....some of the docks i fish around have like 10+ lures stuck on them...probably could pay the lights off after a couple seasons...I wouldn't chum because inshore it usually attracts a lot of catfish...

Sounds like you live on a dead canal with little or no flow. If the bait fish are not there they likely won't come unless there is flow.

Thanks for the tips. The main canal has a steady current. The side canal I live off of has a little flow mostly when the tide is coming in or out.

It's actually the C-10 canal I finally found out.
