Modding old lures and jigs

When I lived in Jersey, I used to save my spent brass for reloading. Stuff that was too dinged-up or cheap casings were reconstituted into lures.

Started out as a gag, but we caught a few bluefish on them.



Here are some more:

I tried sealing them with epoxy and using rustoleum, but now I'll be using reflective tape.

I like the inline spinners and they work well as jigs. Rather than speed-jigging like a maniac, you let em fall, and then jig em up slow and you feel the blade do the work.

I need more flash so I'll get some reflective or fluorescent tape.

Back home the obvious choice for jigs were nickel (silver) or Gold.

I'll probaly go two-tone with fluorescent red / white or a varient of a bright white option.

Being a noob to So Florida jigging, anything outside of Red/White combo that tends to produce?

thanks - the Roberts Ranger at the top in the second photo was just to give Size comaparison.
Most of those lures have been given away or re-worked into different configurations.

Since I moved to an apartment, I don't have the work bench any more.

All new lures will be hand turned (a real pain) and any new bullet casings will have to be drilled out somewhere else where the neighbors won't coimplain.

Seating the worm-weights or spinner lure bodies into the casings require a hammer and anvil when you tap or seat them into place.- nothing crazy, but I like to be precise.

The heaviest lure was a bit more than 3 oz.

I have lighter ones that I've caught cuda on (.38 spl) , but it would be neat to slay some AJ's with the .308 or 7.62x39 bullets.

If anyone wants one, I can't mail them because they are still technically ammunition componants... at least that was the law in NJ.

Awesome recycling If you grind the heads you have some Gotcha lures for salt water.
