Surf shark fishing

I like to fish for sharks , from shore . Being boatless , and having reservations aboui kayaking the bait out , ( even if I had a kayak ) ,so I'm gaught in the dilema of trying to get a large , natural , bait out as far as I can . By casting a variety of ways , the best I can do is 35-40 Yds. The bigger the bait , the less distance , but , the bigger the fish . Secondly , trying to cast a Penn Senator reel is an impossibility . As you can see , I'm stuck between a rock ,and a hard place . What I have come up with , is a variation of a spud gun , to shoot out the bait , and a 5 gal. bucket , mounted on a tripod , that acts as the reel . This eliminates the rotating spool , on the reel , that would backlash , and the friction of all the guides , on the rod . With this my range has increased to 80+ yds . This system works great . I'm well aware that 80 yds. is a drop in the bucket , compared to the 300 or 400 yds. that the bait is taken out by a kayak . But , being boatless, this is the best that I've come up with , so far . If you're a shark fisherman , give it a try .

As Herb Mentioned PLEASE post that up, that sounds awesome haha!!..I could just imagine people walking up on the beach to the sigh of bonito or large mack or cuda chunks just being propelled through the air!!..

since you cant get a kayak yet a great alternative is to get an inflatable raft that they sell at a pool supply store, put your bait in a bucket, paddle out to desired distance then deploy, the raft will work excellently, it is what Im doing till I get a kayak, they usually cost between $20 and $40 and are made of strong material, try that, good luck
