Making you own chum
I used to be a butcher so have a lot of experience with meat grinders. Hand grinders come in different sizes. Larger ones take large grinder plates and knives. I have seen#12, #22, #32 etc hand grinders. #32 plates have a diameter of 3-15/16 inches, # 22 are 3-1/4 inches, #12 are 2-3/4 inches. The larger grinder will move more product but are harder to hand turn.Best to use plates with 5/8 wholes or larger or the machines will load up. I use to make chum myself with an electric #32. I would add bread crumbs to the ground chum and mix. The crumbs sponge up the juice, blood, oil and are natural size "plankton" for the bait to eat. Ground up dry dog food, oats, anything that is edible and will sponge up the juice will work also.
