12/26 and 12/27 Ormond Beach and Daytona

Post by Frogfish101 »

12/26

Tried the surf in Ormond-By-The-Sea, near Ocean's Bait and Tackle, but nothing. not even a hit.

Went to Sunglow Pier south of Daytona Beach, and caught two nice whiting and lost a bluefish. I have pics and will post when I upload them. A lot of drum and sheepshead were caught by the guys who staked out the end of a pier. They also caught a 6'7" Blacktip on a trollied dead ladyfish. Cold weather.

12/27

The cold front finally passed, and it was a beautiful day. Sunny and in the 70s, w/ very little wind. Did a lot of surf fishing today, right behind my resort on Granada and S. Atlantic Ave. I started around 12:30 and fished 'til about 4:30. Before, I stopped by the beach in Ormond-By-The-Sea to check w/ those surf fisherman, but between the 7 or 8 guys, only 2 small whiting. I started out with an undersize pomp, then a quiet stretch, and then 3 whiting in quick succession. BigEarl joined me around 2:30, and he caught a whiting and small pomp while I lost a whiting. It was great meeting Earl, and hopefully we can fish together again sometime in the future. He's a great guy.
There was what appeared to be birds crashing bait out far behind the 2nd sandbar...only if we had a kayak.

See you Ft. Lauderdale area guys soon!

Thanks for all your help you two. I owe my "success" in Ormond to both of you because of your kindness.

Hopefully, I'll be able to make it back sometime soon :)
