Fishing report, Ormond by the Sea 12/9/12

Post by sheqeri »

After being way on a 8 day cruise I knew I had to get my fix ASAP . So I went to my favorite area around 2:30PM with the high tide predicted for 4PM.

The beach was full with seaweed, for luck of a better term. I have never seen that type of weed washed ashore (no it’s not what some of you are thinking, that’s farther down Palm Beach- Miami area . This was more like a miniature bamboo that could do some damage on your foot if you were not careful. Must have been rough surf last week, probably the same front I had the “pleasure” to experience on my second day of cruise. We departed from Port Canaveral on Saturday, Dec 1 and the next couple of days winds of 60+ mph were rocking the ship like it was a toy.

Anyway, I baited with Fishbites and frozen finger mullets. The finger mullets got slammed constantly by bluefish which I don’t mind since I do eat them but that usually means other fish will flee the area to save themselves from the terrorizing teeth of the blues. I stayed until 5PM and got 5 blues and 5 whiting. Not a spectacular day but good enough to get my fix after a “long” absence .
