S.I. tarpon. Oct. 22nd

Post by Local66 »

There were some "special" people drifting the fenders Wednesday night, but once they got out of the way it was 60-100lb tarpon on just about every cast. I went 1 for 7, I had to break off several fish because boats were drifting over my line. I did get a few pics, but honestly I've seen better pics of bigfoot. It was raining pretty hard, with a nice 30 knot wind. All fish were taken on Berkely powerbait swim-shads and Gary Yamamoto 5" swimbaits on the outgoing tide. I picked up a few snook later that night on the south side, drifting plugs.

Nice Job Local66. :D
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Nice report . The ''bad'' boaters kill that spot a lot of times but way to deal with it and score some fish.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

"bad" might be the wrong word, you have to bob and weave down there. SI is one of those places where you have to lower your expectations of fellow anglers if you're going to have a good time. Makes the experience of landing a big fish that much cooler when you have the odds stacked against you.
