Haulover Canal
Went to the Haulover Canal again this morning. Got a legal on Monday snook, about 27" on a zara spook, had another one probably just over the slot blow up on my spook 3 times 10 feet away from me and never got it in his mouth. Caught one small jack, about 2 lbs on a powerbait 4 inch mullet and had an over slot red swim right by me in 2 feet of water. All this was while wading a grass flat for 2 hours from 7-9. Man, I wish I had a boat. I saw these guys anchored at the mouth of the canal hook up 5 times and land 3 bull reds in a matter of a half an hour. Heard them tell another boat that they went 43, 41, and 39 inches. They were using live bait either pinfish or mullet, could not tell at the distance I was. There are mullet everywhere in the lagoon, can't wait until Monday to get me some of that good Mr. Linesider for dinner.

Correct. 27" was the old rule I believe from last year.CowboyJustin wrote:is snook 28-32???
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

28-32 is slot. One per person per day. Hopefully we misunderstood and you in fact released the fish. If not...you know now for next time.bolo wrote:Correct. 27" was the old rule I believe from last year.CowboyJustin wrote:is snook 28-32???
Haulover is a fun area to fish. I've caught my biggest inshore fish right in the canal. You never know what you're going to pull outta that deep channel...

Yes, the fish was in fact released, if you notice the date of the post, it was two days before the season opened and yes I know the slot, I made a mistake with stating 27 inches was legal. I never poach, as I feel it will just bring me bad luck when they are legal. Needless to say, I have not caught a fish over there since this post.
