I use a 7 ' mh ugly stik w/ a baitfisher 4500, spooled w/40lb braid.
The reel has been fine, but I need more backbone for live baits, and bottom fishing from the pier. Any suggestions.

Several hunderd dollars worth..... no answer but it will be around a thousand or so at least. Think about using 80 lb. pp the spool of 300 yards then a topshot of 60 lb. mono should hold enough for...

Only problem is the Dacron will rot over time if it gets wet and not taken care of.

You can put about 1200yds or so of 60lb braid if you want to. I would put on 600 and then fill the rest with mono.

if i remember correctly the okuma corronado is the one with the cheap graphite frame. i had a friend break one when the rod fell and the butt hit the ground. like you said the reel has a garbage drag....

I have got 2 Daiwa Emcasts that have good line capacity on 2 OM Lite 12' surf rods. Now I know that there is a lot more fishing to do than just surf fishing. I was wondering if you guys thought it was...

I use 12-14 lb berlkey clear mono I wan't to try some think else and I'm not a fan of super braid.

Ok...I've had this Penn 9500ss reel lying around since Christmas...just wondering that would your opinions be on a good pier/bridge rod for this very large spinning reel...probably use it for light...

As to the 10 foot rod in the keys, should be fine.

I have 2 that are 11 foot Chaos's and work fine and I also use them off the Beach.

4/0 and 6/0 on them, the 6/0 can be a bit...

I mostly lurk, but always learn from this site. I do most of my fishing from a kayak. After a wet beach landing where my Abu got dunked, I went home and did the usual freshwater rinse and wipe down....

I recently purchased quite a few pomp rigs and all of them have what i would call a kahle style hook, I thought i was getting circle hooks but I'm most sure they are kahle style. They have nice floats...
